Having been an Oral English teacher in China I think that this describes a lot of frustration people have to deal with while learning our language…
I taught English as a second language in Germany for a year, and my experience was that English can be easy for at least Europeans to learn at the start, because of the flexibility, but then gets really hard to master because there are so many exceptions and weirdnesses.
And yes, I know that “weirdnesses” is not a word…
Hahaha, my philosophy is that if they understand it it’s a word 🙂
The hardest part with the Chinese students was definitely all of the idioms and sayings (aka: weirdnesses).
